I bought this book because it's the hardcover with Jones' original title. Paperback title was unfortunately changed to the more commercial "The Buffalo Runners." It's Jones' best of six novels, and his final one before he died. Impressively researched, unflinchingly graphic and true bout the brutality of the old West. Beautifully written, character-driven story. Tough girl leading character, as well. Book deserved more recognition, so did Jones for its writing. Should/could be a movie.
