The devil desires that humanity carry out their virtues and live in harmony, but uncouple themselves from any belief in God - essentially, that they be atheistic and turn their back on the Lord. Later in the text, Mauro offers a range of counter-arguments to evolutionary theory, lambasting the implications of this science as blasphemy.
