Must Read!
I first read this "short" (330+ pages) history of Japanese war crimes shortly after its first publication in 1958, a gift from my father. It was apparent to me that the Japanese were far far more brutal than the germans ever were. Their horrific mistreatment, torture and murder of soldiers and civilians is something to be remembered in these days of "no Japan bashing". When I asked my father "why?" he said they considered westerners, and especially soldiers who surrendered, less than human.
