Very Good. No Jacket as Issued. BM4-An uncorrected proof paperback book SIGNED by Jo Nesbø on the title page in very good condition that has diagonal crease on the front, some bumped corners, some wrinkling, chipping and crease on the cover edges, sides and corners, scattered rubbing, scratches, and wrinkling, "ADVANCE" written on the top page edges, light tanning and shelf wear. Translated from the Norwegian by Don Bartlett. THE MARK OF A KILLER...9"x6", 452 pages. Satisfaction Guaranteed. Oslo is sweltering in the summer heat when a young woman is murdered in her flat. One finger has been cut off, and a tiny red diamond in the shape of a pentagram-a five-pointed star-is found under her eyelid. Detective Harry Hole is assigned the case with Tom Waaler, a colleague he neither likes nor trusts. He believes Tom is behind a gang of arms smugglers-and the murder of his partner. But Harry, an off-the-rails alcoholic, is barely holding on to his job and has little choice but to play nice. Five days later, another woman is reported missing. When her severed finger is found adorned with a star-shaped red diamond ring, Harry fears a serial killer is on the loose. His only clue to unmasking the monster is a riddle of fives: five points to the diamond star, five fingers on the hand, and five days between killings. Determined to find the killer and expose the crooked Tom Waaler, Harry discovers the two investigations melding in unexpected ways. But pursuing the truth comes at a price, and soon Harry finds himself on the run and forced to make difficult decisions about a future he may not live to see.

Fine. Book. Signed by Author(s) A square solid tight clean very carefully read copy. Harry Hole thriller. First US paperback edition. This copy includes a picture of Jo at he signing event and a copy of my ticket. THIS COPY IS IN MY POSSESSION AND NORMALLY SHIPS NEXT DAY.
This is the third of Nesboe's books that I have read, and--by chance--I read them in perfect sequence. They are well written and wonderfully translated.
Harry Hole is a real person in a very real setting. Every
detail adds to the mood of these exciting crime stories.
These are probably the best murder mysteries/police procedures I have ever read.
(I wish the translator had translated the term "gate" to street or road or whatever. Unfortunately in English we read that Harry walked up Karl Johan's Gate or down Sofia's Gate--that must be confusing to the one not familiar with Oslo.)

Wow.
This is the third book of a story trilogy that had me on pins and needles! Very intriguing mystery/crime novel.
