Aileen being Aileen, it was probably inevitable that sooner or later it would spend several hours trapped inside the refrigerator, and Deric being Deric, the obvious way to thaw it back to life was to wrap it in a thermal vest that had got itself accidentally shrunk. So the cat who came in from the cold got its name - Thermal. It became another of the characters who populate the author's world, and this book is written in his customary style of gentle humour, comic solemnity and cuddly charm.
