'The Caravaners' follows a leisurely holiday touring Southern England in a horse-drawn caravan by a German couple, the Major and Edelgard. By Elizabeth von Arnim, a noted author and aristocrat known for her prolific works. She was the cousin of fellow author Katherine Mansfield, and had a three year long affair with H. G. Wells. Through her first marriage she was a Countess, and later married Frank Russell, who was the elder brother of the Nobel prize winning Bertrand Russell. Bookplate of Antoinette Brett to the front paste down-Antoinette was the wife of Oliver Brett; 3rd Viscount Esher, Brett was notable for being a chairman for the National Trust for 25 years, and being involved in many important cultural and artistic charities. In a half crushed morocco binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Spine is a little faded. Light marks and rubbing to the paper. Minor marks to the spine.
