New up to date travel guide. Get the most from your holiday with this easy to follow travel guide. This is a simple guide to the most popular attractions including those relating to 'The Sound of Music' and Mozart. It is intended for those wanting to see the highlights of Salzburg and make it easy to find those places and offers some content on the history of the location.I wanted to make it easy to find and locate the places you want to go to so the maps are next to each location in the book to help make it easy for you, as most guides prefer you to cross reference with a key making it more confusing and creating more work and stress finding your destination, thats if they even include maps at all. Lovers of the movie 'The Sound of Music', will be aware that much of the movie was filmed in Salzburg, and you can trace the footsteps of Maria in the movie and visit some of the settings in the movie. I have included photographs and maps to help you find the locations. I created this guide because I got lost a number of times, even after buying two pocket guides, and buying a map when I arrived I still could not find some of the film locations for The Sound of Music. I struggled to find any maps of the locations or books that showed me where the locations were, and realised only after returning and watching the movie again, did I realise I had indeed been near some of the locations. Ever since seeing the movie I had always wanted to visit Salzburg and imagined the film locations being clearly labelled and easy to find, but it appears Salzburg tries to forget its links with the movie. I wanted to help make things easier for any English speaking person, as most of the maps, and street names are in German only. I wanted to help so you won't waste time looking for destinations, and will make the most from your holiday. The people of Salzburg are proud of its association with 18th-century composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. He was born in Salzburg and resided there, and as well as visiting these places, now museums, all of the gift shops serve to promote their historical association with Mozart. Whatever reason you choose to visit Salzburg, you will not be disappointed. It's a beautiful place, steeped in history, nestled between mountains and lakes, a place you will never forget.
