This book is an excellent summary of the Christian reformations during the Renaissance and early modern periods of Europe. The strengths of the work include a detailed history of the world leading up to the period of the reformations and a general overview of each of these reformations. I thought the books gave too much attention to the Counter-Reformation within the Catholic Church at the expense of further expanding the Lutheran, Reformed, and Anabaptist movements, though. I also found the chapter on witchcraft and folk spirituality to be somewhat unrelated to the rest of the work - more of filler material than something directly related to these reformations. Overall, though, this is a concise summary of these reformations that I am sure I will refer back to frequently.
