I don't read a lot of science fiction, never have, in fact, it is probably one the two genres that I've read the least. So why did I pick up Recruits, which is so obviously sci-fi from the cover on down? It's simple, because of the author. I've been hooked on Thomas Locke's science fiction and fantasy books since I first read The Spectrum Chronicles over ten years ago. Now, all I need to do is see the name on the cover and I know it's a book I have to read.
Recruits has everything a YA sci-fi book could need, from travel between planets, heart pumping battles, some romance, and an epic quest that only these two brothers with their very different talents can fulfill by working as a true team. Adults, also, are sure to enjoy this thrilling galactic adventure from Thomas Locke, a man truly solid in his craft whether writing under this name or Davis Bunn.
As I said, sci-fi isn't my genre of choice but as anticipated I had a hard time putting down Recruits, just too much excitement and adventure awaiting me on the next page. Now I have to waaaiiit until the next book comes out.....
(I received a copy of this book from the publisher. All opinions are entirely my own.)
