This is the fourteenth annual collection of short works by students of Berkshire Middle School. The focus remains the same as in previous volumes: With genuine effort and attention to the writing process, young authors can produce works suitable for a wide audience. Over a three-month period, each sixth-grade writer turned a basic premise into a fully-formed story. The changes along the way sometimes surprised the authors themselves. The pieces in "Read It for the Vine" span multiple categories, including science fiction, fantasy, horror, historical fiction, realistic fiction, mystery, and nonfiction. Berkshire Middle School is located in Beverly Hills, Michigan. The contributors to this volume total approximately three-fifths of the sixth-grade student body at Berkshire. The quality of their work attests to these students' pride in representing their grade and their school in this creative endeavor.
