PARADIGM SHIFT explores changes in the nature and role of information technology in business in the late 20th century. "This is an important book. Executives who ignore it do so at their own peril. The authors argue persuasively that the information age is entering a second era--one marked by decentralization, empowerment, and affordability. The consequences are both hopeful and far reaching".--Paul Allaire, Chairman and CEO, Xerox Corporation.

We all are looking for something new. That's why the title and introduction seduced me in buying. The book was cheap, the transport was five times more expensive, and the shift doesn?t seem to have taken place in all domains yet. Mr. Tapscott however seems to earn his money per character. He uses pages where a paragraph is enough to make the point. That's why I use the book now for cherry picking, the subject is mostly okay, although for a great part ancient history by now, but highlights are still useful. But reading it from start to end? I did not find the energy yet and am missing the shift, the book cannot keep my interest and attention. And mind you, I am an intensive reader, reading books by the dozen in several different languages (Umberto Eco, Paul Theroux, Fay Weldon, Desmond Morris). Possibly I'm spoiled as a reader because I'm from those days where James Martin really could tell something new and interesting in the field. Every paragraph was worth rereading.
