The first volume is confined to ferrous materials, whilst the present one covers the non ferrous metals, timbers, and other organic materials. It is, of course, not possible to deal very fully with any one of the sections included (large treatises may be written on each of same), but it is hoped that the portions more useful to the engineer have been touched upon in most cases.
