I read this 60 years ago, and thought it was hilarious, but now the writing seems forced, pointless and dated. Dave Barry, for example, does better today.

S. J. Perelman
Perelman gets my vote for the best American comic writer who ever lived - literate, cosmically disgruntled, and a master of the well-placed dagger. This book collects enough of his comic essays to keep the reader rolling on the floor through several long winter evenings. Highly recommended!
