Very Good in Very Good jacket. A nice association copy, inscribed by Carolyn Kizer to friend, poet, and former co-editor of Poetry Northwest William Matchett, with his bookplate and date on the ffep. Title page is inscribed: 1 November '73 / Title: 'Midnight was my cry / Before Death was my creep' / (Pimp) / from the earliest known blues, / by a black New Orleans hooker, / circa 1870, collected by john / lomax--Bill, with love (signed) Carolyn. Also with a correction and additional text to the poem 'By The Riverside'; laid in loose is a mimeograph sheet for a poetry reading Kizer was to give at the UW Kane Hall, November 1, 1973; also laid in is a Christmas photo inscribed to Bill from Carolyn in 1982. Stated First Edition. A Near Fine copy in a slightly worn jacket. Kizer's third book of poetry, she notes on the title page 15 New, and 44 Selected poems.
