Seller's Description:
Small 4to. Dark green heavily blind-embossed cloth with white lettering. 448pp. Frontispiece, illustrations. Very good. Faint edgewear only, with white spine lettering quite rubbed; text block evenly age toned as usual. A tight, clean and remarkably nice first edition of a title one might think identical or similar to Barrett's 1860 campaign biography or its enlarged post-assassination version, but according to Monaghan the "Contents entirely different...." Printed on low-quality acidic pulp paper, this title is challenging to find in a condition as nice as this exceptional copy, which is remarkably free of the edge chipping to which it's prone.
