I had received a copy of this book from my parents in 1949 for a Christmas gift. Throughout my childhood, I had many adventures with this book. As I could not bear to part with my own copy of the book, I ordered this one for my grandchild's ninth birthday. She loves the book also. While re-visiting the book, after so many years and with a different mind and in a different age, I developed a deep respect for the research the author had done to accomplish the superb writing of this book. Now, I am sure that my reading this book helped develop my own impatience with prejudice and ignorance. Donnetta Apple
