This is a great resource if you're looking for the big picture of what a book is all about and how individual passages fit into it (both contextually and historically). I think the authors do a good job of helping you look at the big sweep without pushing forward any particular doctrine or theological viewpoint. I do have to admit that I've mostly used it when looking at the Epistles so far, but I expect it will be just as helpful when I get into other books. Just a warning...while this is a great study tool (or springboard to launch into deeper study), it's not very devotional. If you're looking at it for devotional purposes, you may find it a bit dry.
