Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2015 im Fachbereich Kunst - Architektur, Baugeschichte, Denkmalpflege, Note: 1,9, Freie Universit???t Berlin (Kunsthistorisches Institut), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Nach aufwendigen Sanierungs- und Restaurationsarbeiten konnte im Fr???hjahr 2015 der Grottensaal im Neuen Palais neuer???ffnet werden. Der sogenannte Muschelsaal geh???rt zu den eindrucksvollsten R???umen innerhalb Friedrichs neuem Schloss. Die Ausgestaltung des (Grotten-)Innenraums mit Muscheln und idealisierten Tropfsteinnachbildungen verleiht dem Raum seinen Namen und steht in einer langen Tradition der freistehenden Grotten, die bereits seit der Antike als Gartengestaltungselemente bekannt waren. Als Ausgangspunkt f???r folgende ???berlegungen soll demnach die urspr???ngliche Dekoration des Grottensaals unter Friedrich II. dienen, die im Zuge der Saalbeschreibung offengelegt wird. Als visuelle St???tze dient dabei eine zeitgen???ssische Aquarellzeichnung aus den 1780er Jahren, die als eine der wenigen historischen Darstellungen des Grottensaals erhalten geblieben ist. Im weiteren soll der Kontext der Grotte innerhalb des Schlossparks Sanssouci dargelegt werden - mit den Verbindungen zur Neptungrotte am ???stlichen Eingang des Gartens, der Felsengrotte sowie weiteren Grottenpl???nen und Grottierungen innerhalb des Parks. Mit einem Schwerpunkt auf den Grottensaal wird der Versuch gestartet m???gliche Vorbilder f???r den Saal zu rekonstruieren, sodass eine historische oder stilistische Verbindung aufgezeigt werden kann. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist die Bedeutung und Stellung der Grotte innerhalb des Schlossparks f???r das Neue Palais oder gar f???r Friedrich II. herauszuarbeiten und stilistische sowie historische Relationen erstellen zu k???nnen.
