This book offers a great intro to the body condition called diabetes. Rubin, a doctor, explains the different types of diabetes, then points to causes that lead to and effects that generally follow diabetes if left untreated. He also takes time to suggest how diabetes can be prevented or managed with good prognosis. Overall, an excellent introduction for someone who has just been diagnoses with diabetes, someone who want to review their understanding of diabetes and how to manage it, and for those who have friends or loved ones who have diabetes, this offers understanding.

fine job; good reference plain
plain lay terms, good reference to have handy over materials from doctors and organizations; neuropathy usually gets no coverage because the authors often don't suffer from it or even have diabetes.

Diabetes for Dummies
I really enjoyed this book. It is very informative and easy to read. I particularly like the section on glucometers. Dr. Rubin included much detail about what the meters do and what they need to do. There is much information on what tests need to be done and how often. The section on diet is informative and useful. I would recommend this book to anyone newly diagnose with Diabetes.
