Aus allen diesen umst???nden (die ich an den betr. Stellen in den anmerkungen eingehender behandle) folgt aber, dafs wir einen lateinischen urtext annehmen m???ssen, aus dem alle die besprochenen bear beitungen geflossen sind. M???glich, dafs dieser noch in einem zur zeit unbekannten ms. Verborgen liegt, und dafs wir ihn eines tages ans licht gef???rdert sehen werden; m???glich, dafs er auch ganz verloren ist: aber existiert hat er jedenfalls. Abweichend von allen andern redactionen und seiner eigenen behandlungsart im Josaphat gibt Chardry hier reden, betrachtungen und gebete mit gr???fter ausf???hrlichkeit. Kaum ist es anzunehmen, dafs er diese selbst erfunden hat: auch hier lehnte er sich gewifs im dogmatisch-religi???sen an seinen uns unbekannten urtext. Ohne zweifel ist aber der satirische ausfall am ende des gedichtes (v. 1828 - 98) ihm allein zuzuschreiben; auch der belebte gang der erz???hlung d???rfte sein verdienst sein.
