Near Fine in Near Fine jacket. 8vo. 241pp, references, three appendices: Twenty (or so) prize apples; back-yard orchards; and a few good recipes from around the world, index, pictorial endpapers. Or boards in jacket. Near new. The author celebrates the unstoppable spread of apples around the world, their astonishing diversity, their myriad uses, their mythology and their future.
Fascinating read, had no idea how complicated the history and "life" of apples was. I was totally absorbed reading it. Blew Johnny Appleseed out of the water!

Satisfying and delicious
I took tremendous delight in exploring the history and lore of something that a lot of us take for granted, apples.
Cover to cover, Mr Browning divulges the lineage, history, and possibly the future of a fruit that feeds millions, and has cost some their lives.
This is an engaging, entertaining, and discretely educating volume that was difficult to put down, and I didn't have to wash my hands.
