Very Good in Good Minus jacket. 4to. . Illustrated with variety of original designs of shipping in different situations together with separate views of their masts, sails, yards and rigging. To which is annexed a translation of the French sea-terms and phrases, cllected from the works of Mess. du Hamel, Aubin, Saverien etc. The 1970 reprint of the 4th edition, originally published by T. Cadell in 1780. Aside from a few dirty marks the book itself is excellent. The d/w is rubbed, slightly discoloured and heavily chipped to head and foot of spine. Spine very sunned.

First printed in 1769, Falconer's Dictionary of the Marine is an important historical reference for the Royal Navy and British shipping in the 18th century.
