This is less a Hollywood story than it is a recounting of an extremely anguished young father with alcohol addiction whose eldest son grew up having to raise his father in very many ways. They grew up together and used their talents to create wonderful pieces of theater, film and television. As a memoir, both Martin Sheen and Emilio Estevez reveal profound weaknesses and strengths and the way they depended on each other to find their way through troubled times. The love they always had has developed into a true mutual admiration society. Emilio wrote and directed one of his father's finest films, The Way.
