I read the entire series from the beginning. Alexandria is the last of the books read. The first book was a slow start (a little more sleaze than I would have liked) but I really got into the characters and enjoyed every single book.

Marcus Didius does it again.
Marcus Didius Falco sets everything to rights in Egypt. The chase scene up the Lighthouse was a bit contrived, but everything else was great.

Ancient Rome? No. The characters are strictly 21st century Americans. See HBO's "Rome" if you really want to shudder.
