Thedraw boat was to be furnished with a pair ofwheels, to the axis ofwhicharmswere attachedwith flat boards(which hecallsfans) at their extremities; and great ingenuity is said, upon very good authority, to be displayed in the contrivance, not only of the method by which a circular action was produced, but of that by Which the motion of the engine was regulated.
