There are a few authors in the scientific fields who have wide name recognition, most notably theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking, astronomer and planetary scientist Carl Sagan, and astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson.
Hawking wrote the influential A Brief History of Time, and Sagan penned the seminal work Cosmos as a companion to his TV series of the same name. Tyson was influenced by both Hawking and Sagan and has written books like Death by Black Hole: And Other Cosmic Quandaries and Letters from an Astrophysicist.
