Fantasy novels are fiction books that have magic or other surreal or paranormal elements that cannot happen in reality. Unlike science fiction, fantasy draws on imagination and folk myths to create new worlds. In fantasy books, the plot might revolve around magic, take place on another world, or focus on mythical creatures.
Fantasy is not to be confused with science fiction, though. Although there are science fantasy novels, science fiction novels draw on technological advancements we've already discovered in real life, while also combining scientific elements with the real world. Meanwhile, fantasy books revolve around things that aren't possible, like wizardry.
