Lord of the World is a dystopian novel written by Robert Hugh Benson. It is set in the early 21st century and follows the story of a Catholic priest named Father Percy Franklin, who is sent to Rome to report on the political situation in Europe. The world is divided into two superpowers: the East, which is dominated by Buddhism, and the West, which is controlled by a secular government known as the ""Humanitarian League.""As Father Percy travels through Europe, he witnesses the rise of a charismatic leader named Julian Felsenburgh, who is hailed as a messiah and eventually becomes the ruler of the entire world. Felsenburgh is seen as a savior by many, but Father Percy sees him as a dangerous figure who is leading humanity down a path of destruction. The novel explores themes of religion, politics, and the struggle between good and evil. It also raises questions about the nature of power, the role of religion in society, and the dangers of utopian thinking. The book has been praised for its prophetic vision of the future and its ability to capture the anxieties of the early 20th century. From right to left of the huge interior, across the platforms, swelling every instant, surged an enormous swaying, roaring crowd. The flight of steps, twenty yards broad, used only in cases of emergency, resembled a gigantic black cataract nearly two hundred feet in height. Each car as it drew up discharged more and more men and women, who ran like ants towards the assembly of their fellows. The noise was indescribable. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. The story was written in 1907 but is set today. The author does an amazing job of predicting future morals and trends in the world today. His mistake is that he thought that communism would really deliver on its promises.

written in 1907, this book describes much of our current culture. If the accuracy continues, we are in for quite a ride.
