Seller's Description:
Fine in fine jacket. Fine in fine dust jacket. First edition (stated). Hardcover. 129 pp. Illustrated with photographs. Scarce biographical work about legendary soccer star Pele. Published after Pele emerged from retirement to join the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League. Though the league had been in operation since 1968, it was Pele's entering the league ( and the soon to follow Georio Chinaglia and Franz Beckenbauer) that put the league on the map. The team would begin to play before sell-out crowds in Giants Stadium. Through flashbacks, the book traces Pele's meteroic rise from poverty to stardom in his native Brazil but focuses on his coming to America.
