Good Background
As someone who has read and enjoyed the Pip and Flinx books, it was interesting to see how the Commonwealth got together. I always had some interest in how Foster was going to justify some of his "universe", and the pre-Commonwealth books came up with pretty consistent answers. I never did see how insectoid beings could easily become Man's best friend, and this book delved into this.
