William Seale

William Seale, a native Texan, is a graduate of Southwestern University and holds M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Duke University. He is also the author of Texas River-man: The Life and Times of Capt. Andrew Smyth (Austin, 1966), which won the Summerfield G. Roberts Award for Texas History. He has been a teacher of history in Texas colleges, and is currently director of the Historic Columbia Foundation, Columbia, South Carolina.
