Bill Lewis currently serves as Director of Planning, Accreditation, and Effectiveness at Pueblo Community College, where he is in his fourteenth year as an English teacher. "Normally, I teach classes in technical writing, Introduction to Literature, and composition each semester." Lewis came to teaching after many years working in the defense industry. He graduated from the University of Colorado and traveled around the country before pursuing his interest in the Russian language at the Defense Language Institute. He worked in the intelligence community until earning his M.A. in English from George Mason University. He then began his long association with the English department at Pueblo. "My current work on our accreditation has shown me the great strides that Debbie [Borchers] and Luis [Nazario] have made with the English department. Their development of service learning programs and special manuals for adjunct instructors--these are unique and innovative solutions." Lewis himself has been an early adopter of new technologies. He was the first instructor at Pueblo to use a WebCTA(R) module with his course, and he has been a vocal proponent of integration in teaching English. "More than anything I've seen in fifteen years of teaching, I want BRIDGES TO BETTER WRITING to be the go-to book that people think covers all the bases." See less
