William Green has gained an international reputation for his many works of aviation reference. Gordon Swanborough has spent almost all his working life as an aviation journalist and author. He spent 20 years on the editorial staff for the magazine The Aeroplane, later becoming Editor of Flying Review International. In 1971 William Green and Gordon Swanborough joined forces to create Air International and Air Enthusiast, and have together authored many books including the Salamander titles The Illustrated Encyclopedia of the World's Commercial Aircraft, An Illustrated Anatomy of the World's Fighters and Flying Colours.
