William Brennan is a retired federal executive whose career was highlighted by working for many years on the problems that rise out of the tension between the states and the federal government. On retirement, he was awarded the distinguished career award by the U.S. Department of Energy where he worked for the last twenty years of his career. Much of his experience is related to the subject matter of his seventh novel, The Choice Not Made, in which the conflicts between the states and regions of the country explode into the Civil War. Brennan was born and raised in an Irish neighborhood in the shoe factory city of Brockton, MA as the Industrial Revolution was abating in New England. He graduated from Boston University with a degree in history. His earlier novels examine the Irish American experience during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Brennan's seventh novel, The Choice Not Made, is his first not seen through the eyes of Irish Americans and is a broader examination of the Civil War and Reconstruction and Their impact on U.S. History. He resides with his wife in Virginia just outside of Washington, DC. See less
