Dr. Brasch is a social issues columnist and a professor emeritus of mass communications and journalism. He is active in several social issues, including animal rights, civil rights, free expression, due process, and anti-war movements. He was a newspaper and magazine reporter and editor, writer-producer of multi-screen multimedia productions, and publicist for social action and non-profit organizations. He is co-founder and executive vice-president of the NE Pa. Homeless Alliance, and vice-president of the ACLU Central Susquehanna chapter. During a four decade career as a journalist, he has earned more than 250 regional and national writing awards, mostly for investigative reporting, feature writing, and his syndicated newspaper column. He also earned the Martin Luther King Jr. Humanitarian Service Award, was the recipient of the first Deans' Salute to Excellence award at his university. He is the author of 17 books, most of them fusing history and contemporary social issues. See less
