Walter Buehr

Walter Buehr (1897-1971) is a notable American author and illustrator of children and young adult books, most of which are biographies or science related works. Altogether he wrote and illustrated over fifty-six books. He began his career as a commercial artist and had a lifelong love of yachting, which led to his first book, Ships and Life Afloat (1953). He was a WW I veteran, a teacher, a designer of furniture, but most of all, an author and illustrator.
