Vaughan Askue

Vaughan Askue has always been fascinated with airplanes. He earned his private license at the local airport before he bothered to obtain his driver's license. Before retiring in 1012, he had spent 42 1/2 years at Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. working in engineering, marketing and sales. Vaughan Askue has always been fascinated with airplanes. He earned his private license at the local airport before he bothered to obtain his driver's license. Before retiring in 1012, he had spent 42 1/2 years at Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. working in engineering, marketing and sales. He was heavily involved in the development of the UH-60 BLACK HAWK, S-64 Skycrane and the Rotor Systems Research Aircraft among other Sikorsky helicopters. His book, Flight Testing Homebuilt Aircraft, originally published in 1992 has been re-released by the Aircraft Technical Book Company. It remains an important reference for the aircraft homebuilder who wants to flight test the aircraft they built as effectively and safely as possible. Vaughan has a BS degree in aeronautical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, New York. He possesses a Private Pilot's license with single-engine land and glider ratings. Vaughan is a member of the Igor Sikorsky Historical Archives and volunteers in the Connecticut Air and Space Center. He is an active member of the American Helicopter Society, Experimental Aircraft Association, and American Aviation Historical Society. He resides in Stratford Connecticut with his wife, Arlene Redmond, and when he is not flying, building scale aircraft models or reading aircraft journals he is doing creative repairs to his 100-year old home.
