Tracy Lawson is a native of Cincinnati, Ohio, and a graduate of Princeton High School and Ohio University. After working for a time in advertising and then as an investigative analyst for the Florida Board of Bar Examiners, Tracy settled into a career in the performing arts where she taught dance and choreographed musicals. More recently, while continuing to choreograph musical stage performances, she has been authoring award-winning books of fiction for young adults and of non-fiction, especially history, for adults.
Tracy credits her employment at the Florida Board of Bar Examiners with honing her "pre-internet research skills." Her interest in family history led her to examine the details in an 1838 travel journal of her great-great-great-grandfather Henry Rogers, and what began as a project for her enjoyment turned into something much bigger a compelling thirst to understand much more about the times, the lives, the accomplishments, and the legacy of her family and others who built, operated, expanded, and kept alive the Mount Healthy Mill as a business and landmark in southwestern Ohio. Her interests in family history has resulted in the completion of two books Fips, Bots, Doggeries, and More (2012) and Pride of the Valley (2017).
Today Tracy splits her time between Dallas, Texas, and Columbus, Ohio. She is married with one daughter and two spoiled cats.
