Thomas S. McAnally received a bachelor's degree in journalism from Oklahoma City University before earning a master's in mass communications from Syracuse University. Early in his career, McAnally was director of communications for the Nebraska Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. In that position, he served with Bishop Kenneth W. Copeland and was influenced to make working with the church his professional focus. For nearly forty years, McAnally chronicled United Methodists events and people around the world, coupling his love of writing with commitment to the church. McAnally has edited and written numerous articles for various publications. His first book, "Questions & Answers About the United Methodist Church," has sold close to two hundred thousand copies. He has been honored with awards for his writing and photography, including receiving the United Methodist Association of Communications? Communicator of the Year award; he was inducted into the same organization's Hall of Fame in 2006. A native of Oklahoma, McAnally lives in Nashville, Tennessee, with his wife, Charlotte.
