Thomas L. Shaffer is Robert and Marion Short Professor of Law Emeritus at the University of Notre Dame and member of the Indiana Bar. He has taught law since 1963, at Notre Dame, Washington and Lee, the University of Maine, Boston College, U.C.L.A., and the University of Virginia.
