Thomas Ball recently obtained a PhD in the History of Political Thought at Durham University studying under Dr Giles Gasper, entitled From the Temporal to the Eternal: The Normative Philosophy of Anselm of Canterbury. He completed his MA in Medieval and Renaissance Studies and his BA in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics - also at Durham. For the past five years he has been an active participant in the broader academic community, giving papers at a variety of conferences, notably the 2009 International Anselm Conference and yearly at the Kalamazoo International Congress on Medieval Studies. These have included organizing sessions on 'Regnum et Sacerdotium Revisited' and 'New Perspectives on John of Salisbury'. The latter lead to a 2012 Colloquium hosted at Durham University of the same title. His broader research interests include medieval political philosophy and medieval ethics, with a focus on the twelfth century. See less
