Tetsumaro Hayashi , professor of English and director of the Steinbeck Research Institute at Ball State University, Muncie, Indiana, is President of the International John Steinbeck Society and founder and editor-in-chief of the Steinbeck Quarterly and the Steinbeck Monograph Series .
