When Terry Godwin came to live in Brighton two years ago he immediately felt comfortable. He got to know Brighton and Hove, enjoyed the sea, the countryside and the lively atmosphere in the town. He was very pleased to be here. Terry came to Brighton from the Medway Towns in Kent to live with his son Mark and family in Withdean, who look after him. Having established himself in Rainham it was a big wrench to come down to Brighton where neither his son nor Terry were known. When Terry was Chairman of the Medway Poetry Group they read in the Sunlight Radio room at Gillingham for two hourly sessions. The poetry group published three books of poetry all written by Kentish Poets. The first one was a poetry book for children "Young Medway" it sold very quickly and we were soon out of stock. The next two were "We love Medway" and "The Medway Hour of Poetry." Because of their success I felt we can produce a book called, "We Love Brighton and Hove." Terry, Geoff and Alanna have created a group called, "The Brighton and Hove Quill of Poetry". The group read in the radio room of the Brighthelm Community Centre in North street Brighton, Thursdays 4.00-5.00pm. We want to encourage poetry and will have poets come in and chat and read their works. We have our informal meetings on Mondays between 3.00-4.00pm. All welcome. You can read your poetry and it will be on the radio and recorded. If you want to come Thursdays, please ring first to see if we have enough room. If you want your poetry read out for you, send it in. It must be printed to avoid mistakes. Let us hear from you soon. See less
