Dr. Syed Shams Yazdani's early experience as a malaria researcher led him to generate technologies for the production of three malaria vaccine candidates that are particularly relevant to the needs of current society. At present, Dr. Shams Yazdani is leading athe Department of Biotechnology (DBT) funded Centre at International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), New Delhi, India called DBT-ICGEB and the Centre for Advanced Bioenergy Research, New Delhi, India, to further expand the bioenergy research program and exploit the intellectual properties for commercialization. The team is designing enzyme systems for effective hydrolysis of agricultural residues and developing microbial strains for production of advanced biofuels. Harnessing the potential of algae for biofuel production is another important research area of the Centre. See less
