Steven Herrick was born in Bar Harbor, a small Maine coastal town, the son of a commercial fisherman and a sardine factory worker. Thirty-six years later, when he and his family migrated to California, he acquired an address that, for the first time in his life, didn't contain the word "Harbor". Following a finance career in Maine, California and Oregon, he retired and relocated to Missouri City, Texas.
