Stephen Ripley

Stephen Ripley was born in West Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. He trained as an actor/dramatist at the prestigious Bretton Hall, and worked in educational theatre devising, directing and performing in plays for primary school children. Stephen Ripley was born in West Yorkshire in the United Kingdom. He trained as an actor/dramatist at the prestigious Bretton Hall, and worked in educational theatre devising, directing and performing in plays for primary school children. His first play, The Fisherman and His Soul, toured over 300 schools. Stephen has worked in film and television, and his books in the IMAGES series are collections of abstract paintings and sculpture. In 2014 he published his first book of poetry, Buffalo Dreams, revealing a deeply personal view of life, experience and hope for the human condition. In 2015 he published his large-format art book, Exile of the Mind, a collection of his artistic work to date which includes abstract art, images and sculpture. In 2016 he published a second large-format art book, Art in the Abstract, an exploration by original artwork and text of the abstract concept in art. In 2017 he published: The Objective Space, a selection of new and recent original artistic work and textual analysis which explores the relationship between shape and colour in the abstract artistic space. The Exploited Nude, a selection of new and recent original artistic work and textual analysis which examines the contemporary pornographic representation of the naked female form in a comparison with the abstract nude form in art. The Sum of All Parts, a collection of new original artistic work and textual analysis which explores the relationship between the symbolic human form and its presence in the abstract artistic space.
