Stanley Scott was brought up in the fenland of East Anglia and was a chorister at Ely Cathedral. After returning from service in the Royal Navy in 1946, he worked as an electrician until accepting the post of Senior Electrician at Grafham Water in 1966, later becoming Electrical Superintendent.
