Shaul Mukamel
Shaul Mukamel is currently the Chancellor Professor of Chemistry at the University of California at Irvine and Senior Fellow at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies. He received his PhD from Tel-Aviv University in 1976 and joined MIT and UC Berkeley as a postdoctoral researcher before holding positions at Rice University, the Weizmann Institute, and the University of Rochester. Shaul Mukamel is currently the Chancellor Professor of Chemistry at the University of California at Irvine and Senior Fellow at the Freiburg Institute for Advanced Studies. He received his PhD from Tel-Aviv University in 1976 and joined MIT and UC Berkeley as a postdoctoral researcher before holding positions at Rice University, the Weizmann Institute, and the University of Rochester. Various visiting professorships brought him to Orsay, Tokyo, Munich, and Bangalore, and he was elected Fellow of the APS, OSA, and JILA. Having been awarded, amongst others, the Sloan, Dreyfus, Guggenheim, Alexander von Humboldt, Lippincot, and Willis Lamb Awards for his research on probing structure, dynamics, and environment of molecules by means of ultrafast laser pulse sequences and having written over 750 articles he is one of the most distinguished researchers active in these topics.
