Sharon M. Valente is a Research Fellow in the Veterans Affairs Greater Los Angeles Healthcare system. Dr. Valente earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Mount St. Mary's College, a Master's in Psychiatric Nursing from the University of California Los Angeles, and a doctorate in Counseling Psychology from the University of Southern California. The recipient of several awards for excellence in both research and teaching, Dr. Valente has co-taught (with Vern Bullough) a popular course in Human Sexuality at the University of Southern California since the mid-1990s. She is coeditor (with Corinne Hatton) of Suicide: Assessment and Intervention, Second Edition (Appleton Century Crofts, 1984).
