Dr. Shabir Ahmad Ganai has completed his Masters in Biochemistry from Bangalore University. Following this he did his Ph.D in Biochemistry from Tamil Nadu. During his doctorate Dr. Ganai remained AYUSH-JRF. Further Dr. Ganai worked as Research Associate in National Brain Research Centre Haryana.
